“ I want to take away the stigma of chronic illness and live a life of chronic wellness. ”
If you’ve ever dealt with or known someone who has suffered from a chronic illness, struggled to find a solution to heal, or simply are looking to better understand holistic healing measures, this episode is for you. Today we are joined by New York’s Alyssa Digirolamo of Big City Bohemian in a reflection on her own journey to moving from a life of chronic illness to a life of chronic wellness. After much frustration growing up with chronic illness and the journey that followed her into adulthood, Alyssa found herself exhausted with the medical community and stigma around invisible illness. It wasn’t until discovering nontraditional practitioners and fully opening her world to the various eastern practices that the veil began to finally lift.
In this episode Alyssa recaps her various experiences with illness, her introduction to yoga which lead her to become a yoga teacher, and her journey to moving further away from the daily grind in order to discover her soul’s purpose in this lifetime. Following suit to my favorite saying “life doesn’t happen to you, it happens for you,” Alyssa now integrates her learned experiences and teachings to help others find solace in their busy lives while integrating mindfulness practices to elevate their day to day.
In listening to this episode, it is important to consult with your medical professional before making any drastic lifestyle or diet changes. It is also crucial to remember that we are all unique beings and we should only be incorporating practices or lifestyle changes that make sense to our own individual needs.
